Boeng Melea Temple - Siem Reap Province

The remaining parts of Boeng Mealea, which are still halfway covered under vegetation, comprise of superbly squared-off sandstone building pieces. The exceptional embellishment dates from the clench hand half of the twelfth century.

In different times, the pediments of a few structures are etched with account scenes from the Ramayana, keeping in mind Hindu iconographic topics are abundant, Boeng Mealea is obviously a Buddhist haven as Banteay Samre, which is pretty much contemporaneous. This is affirmed by the radiant statue of the Bodhisattva Lokeshvara found in the landmark and today housed at the Angkor Conservancy.
